Enameling (Minakari)

The art of decorating metal objects (and sometimes pottery or glass) with a special type of colorful materials is called enameling (named Minakari in Persian) . These materials are mainly obtained from the combination of oxides of various metals with some salts. Painted objects are baked in the oven and the intensity of final colors depends on the temperature and duration of heating. The art of Minakari has different branches and what is more common in Iran today is called painting-Minakari.
